High Compression Pistons or Not Help Needed
High Compression Pistons or Not Help Needed
First of all I would like to apologize of writing in English on this French forum, but my French is terrible.
My name is Tiago and my from Portugal and I have a Clio Williams.
Hi have a problem on my car and the place to find help and advice's is here.
The F7r that was on my car got ruined, the oil pump failed and ruined the crank, rods, head and cams.
The block got a litle scratched on the cylinders.
Bought a second engine from unknown origine and after mounting it it smoked a lot.
Changed the piston rings and all the seals and steams on the head.
I noticed that one of the cylinders was consuming oil, however I thought that by changing the piston rings the problem would be solved.
The engine is now after 4000km smoking alot.
The problem is on cylinder number one.
Bought another engine from a 97 megane, opened it and it seems to be opned at least once.
Two of my blocks to be used need to be re-bore to at least 0,30.
However 0,30 only high compression.
The use given for the car is fast road and Sunday drives.
Don't want to change the ECU and don't want to fit throtlle bodies.
My idea was to open one of the blocks to +0,30 and fit wossner 11:2:1 or 11:5:1 and fit the megane head.
Is it a good idea?
What are the disadvantages of using high compression engine?
What is best 11:5:1 or 12:5:1?
All help and advice's are welcome.
Regards to all

Re: High Compression Pistons or Not Help Needed
Hello,
The volumetric ratio to 11.5 is already good for a performance / driving comfort / maintenance ratio.
If you put a volumetric ratio of 12.5 you will have an engine with more performance but to the detriment of the points I mentioned above.
It all depends on your budget and usage.
Now, your engine block may have scratches, that is why your cylinder no.1 would consume oil.
The ideal solution would be to re-engineer your engine block in order to restart on a healthy base with pistons 83 mm in diameter.

First off all thanks for your reply.
So 12:5:1 in your opinion is too much for "normal" use.
My idea was also to adapt a clio manifold into a megane head.

hello,
often the volumetric ratio is 11:2 and not 11:5
but 12.5 is really too much for "normal" use even if you have better performances
and you can adapt clio manifold on mégane motor

I've looked at the megane head, and it seems i have to open the intake holes to match the williams manifold.
Also need to machine the head on the distribuitor zone.

Here is a link of a topic for the assembly of a megane engine in a clio.

I want to do something diferent.
Use the megane engine but adapt the head to use the clio manifold.

Re: High Compression Pistons or Not Help Needed
If you want to put the lighter of the clio in fact you have to machine the breech of megane.
Regarding the collector and butterfly case, you have to keep that of megane and fit the potentiometer of the megane on the clio seems to me.

Re: High Compression Pistons or Not Help Needed
I do not understand or is your problem?
If you have just a seal problem, put a megane seal.
If you want to put a breech of megane in the clio you make the modifications that I quoted to the desus.
The simplest is to put back a breech of clio.
